鳳梨葉變織品穿上身
Pineapple Power: Turning Tropical Trash into Trendy Threads

We've got some juicy news straight from Taiwan's pineapple fields...

And it's not just about that delicious fruit.

After the spikey yellow pineapple is harvested...

Those leftover pineapple leaves are being turned into something useful...

Clothing!

That's right, eco-friendly clothes made from pineapple leaves.

It's fashion from the farm!

The company that makes these clothes says it started working on the idea 3
years ago.

The company says a pineapple takes about 18 months to grow.

During this time, many things like bad weather, might ruin (破壞) the
farmer's hard work.

What's more, Taiwan grows a lot of pineapples.

And we throw away even more pineapple leaves.

Taiwan grows around 500,000 metric tons of pineapples each year.

But we throw away around 800,000 metric tons of pineapple leaves!

我們通常只食用鳳梨本身,葉片和其他部分都當作堆肥或丟棄。

All that added together...is A LOT of waste.

So the company thought of ways to use pineapple leaves.

It uses the fiber (纖維) in the leaves.

And it makes the fiber into clothing.

They can make things like skirts and tops.

They say the clothes can feel like leather (皮革).

Or it can feel like linen (亞麻).

And the company says pineapple clothes are better for the environment in
other ways too.

They say making one kilogram of pineapple clothing creates 0.784 kilograms of
carbon emissions (碳排放).

That's lower than carbon emissions for cotton (棉) and linen!

And here's the best part...

By turning pineapple waste into fashion, Taiwan isn't just growing fruit-it's
growing a sustainable future!

So next time you see a pineapple, remember, it's not just for eating.

It might also be the fabric of your next eco-friendly outfit!

地球的"第二個月亮"
Earth Gets "Second Moon"

Are you ready for some news that's "out of this world"?

Earth got a second moon!

Well, sort of.

A small asteroid has been pulled in by Earth's gravity (地心引力).

It's become a sort of "mini-moon".

This mini moon got close to Earth on September 29th.

And scientists say this space visitor will be with us for a few months.

But after that, it will zoom off again into space.

Scientists are calling this asteroid "2024 PT5".

2024 PT5 is super tiny.

Scientists say it's probably around 11 meters wide.

That's about the size of a bus.

And that's not very big for stuff in space.

So we can't see it with our eyes.

You can only see it using a professional telescope (太空望遠鏡).

一顆叫2024 PT5的小行星在9月底被地球引力困住,成為一顆暫時的"迷你月亮"。

Scientists say this sometimes happens.

An asteroid gets pretty close to Earth...like around 4.5 million kilometers
from our planet.

And the asteroid is moving pretty slowly...like around 3,500 kilometers per
hour.

Then it may get trapped (困住) by Earth's gravity.

But it doesn't stay trapped forever.

Scientists think 2024 PT5 will move around Earth for about two months.

It won't circle Earth completely.

And it will then move away in another direction (另一個方向).

So is it goodbye forever?

Not really.

If you miss seeing 2024 PT5 this time around, don't worry.

It will come back and visit again in 2055!

So, maybe we won't see this mini-moon, but it reminds us how busy and
exciting our solar system is!

There are so many cool things out there that we haven't even discovered yet.

And scientists are always watching the skies to spot the next big thing.

So, keep dreaming big, because space is full of surprises!
